How To Whiten Teeth At Home?

There are so many myths and home remedy products claiming to be a natural teeth whitener that it can be hard to know for certain which solutions actually work, which don’t, and most importantly, which are safe.

Searching the internet is a surefire way to find a wealth of advice on where to find the perfect natural tooth whitener, but many of these tooth whitening tricks lack any scientific evidence to support their claims.

Case in point: baking soda. It’s found in numerous dental products but let’s see all available options on how to whiten teeth at home:

Household soda

Soda powder

Dentists confirm that home teeth whitening with the help of household soda are safe and effective. However, don’t use this method more than once a week, because you can damage your enamel. Here is the video where you can see how to whiten teeth with baking soda:

Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is still number one among popular home whitening remedies. You can make your teeth visibly whiter in a few weeks, but your enamel will be much more sensitive after that.

Strawberry and its relative – a wild strawberry, contain many useful and natural whitening components. Berry whitening is, probably, the most delicious and pleasant home method.

Wood ash

Surprisingly, wood ash can also make your teeth several shades whiter. It contains potassium hydroxide, which is a natural bleach.

Homemade toothpaste

Here’s one of the best recipes: soda, Hydrogen peroxide, fine salt, and regular fluoride toothpaste.

Activated carbon

To use activated carbon as a whitening remedy for the teeth enamel, crush it to powder, put a little bit on the brush, and brush your teeth as usual.

It also contains fruity acids that assist in teeth whitening.

The way to whiten teeth with the help of an egg-plant was created in ancient times. To get the result, you should burn this vegetable to ashes and then brush your teeth with the remained powder, or mix it with regular toothpaste.

Essential oils

Whitening with the help of oils is a natural and safe method. To make a whitening mixture you need 2-3 drops of citrus oil (orange, lemon, grapefruit) and 3 drops of a tea tree oil, add this in a small cup of warm water and rinse your teeth up to 2 times per week.

Charcoal teeth whitening

If you’d like to try activated charcoal to whiten your teeth, you can purchase it as a powder or in capsules that you open. Mix with water to make a paste. You can also try sprinkling the charcoal onto your wet finger or toothbrush.

Keep in mind that this technique may be hard to finesse. Activated charcoal can also stain fabrics and countertops.
